Wildlife
Wild horses are one of the most impressive natural beauties of the Taurus Mountains. These free-spirited horses represent a unique genetic heritage that has lived in these lands for centuries and preserved its freedom for generations.
Called "yılkı" in the region, these horses live completely free in their natural environment. These magnificent animals, which can be seen in the green pastures of the highlands especially in the morning and evening, offer unique shots for photography enthusiasts.

History and Culture
Wild horses are an important part of Yörük culture. Throughout history, nomadic Yörüks released their horses in the highlands, allowing them to reproduce in their natural environment. Thanks to this tradition, wild horses have been able to preserve their unique genetic characteristics to this day.
These horses have perfectly adapted to the harsh Taurus climate conditions and are notable for their durable and strong structures. Wild horses, usually bay, gray and black in color, live in herds and form their own social hierarchies.
The ideal times to see wild horses are sunrise and sunset. At these times, horses descend to water sources and pastures. Horse herds can be observed more easily especially during the period when the highlands are green between May-October.
